East Gymnasium
This building was actually a bath and gymnasium complex made by Damianus, in about the 2C AD for the purpose of educating young people of Ephesus on sports, music, astronomy and social skills. There are many young girl statues in the Izmir Archaeology Museum from this Gymnasium. That is why the building is also called "Girl's Gymnasium".

It is located on the north of the Magnesian Gate. There was a lecture hall (called palaestra) at the entrance. During the excavations, the statues of healing god Asclepius, Aphrodite, Dionysus, Hygeia, Pan were found here. They are in Izmir Archaeology Museum today.

There were bathing halls in the centre of the structure, surrounded on three sides by vaulted halls for physical exercise, games and for strolling after the bath.

According to inscriptions, boys aged 6-16 were accepted for education in this school. It had baths, a courtyard, class rooms, an Emperor's hall and other facilities. There was an entrance to the structure on the east side with columns and triangular pediments.
