Marble Road
The road is known to be the main road of the city. It was also accepted as the holy road of Ephesus. The section of this road between the south of the Celsus Library and the commercial Agora is covered with marble plates during the 5th century A.D. by a person named Eutropios.
The marble road was oftrn used and repaired many times throughout the ages.

We see the remains of a row of columns to the east of this road. There was a stoa of the commercial Agora on the other side. The columns of the stoa were standing on a base-wall of 1.7m. high. There were stairs both on the north and the south ends of this pedestrians' walk-way. The people had to climb several stairs to reach the stoa.

On the marble road, there are some drawings which are believed to be an advertisement of the Brothel. This advertisement is known as the first advertisement in history. There is a footprint on the advertisement, one finger showing the library, and other showing the brothel. The explanation of this sign is that the footprint shows that one should turn at that point; the woman's head symbolizes the women waiting in the Brothel and the heart shows that the women are eager for love.

The busts and statues of the important people were erected along the road, and the letters from emperors were carved into the marble blocks to let people read.
